There are no expectations\, pressures or milestones to meet\, only materials to roll\, cut\, tear\, mark\, balance\, thread\, crawl under\, move and inspect. You’ll be supported and gently guided by artist and early years facilitator Abigail Hunt\, who has over twenty years’ experience working with families and developing creative projects for galleries and museums.    \nWhat will you create\, what new skills and stories will unfold? It will be led by your child’s imagination\, and you will be held in a space that allows you to breathe and experiment. DESCRIPTION:At Marble Hill Playcentres they believe that all children need to play and be active. Play is essential to the healthy\, physical\, social and emotional development of all children\, and a fundamental part of childhood. Children with disabilities need to play as much as their non-disabled peers. Indeed the benefits of play and physical activity can be even greater than for other children so it is vital they do not miss out. \nPositive experiences of play and physical activity can also enhance children and young people’s mental health by building up their confidence\, self esteem and resilience. It is also through play\, both in the community and at school\, that children develop friendships and a sense of belonging to a peer group. Again\, this is particularly important for children with additional needs\, as they are frequently marginalised and/or overprotected. \nOn most first Saturdays of the month throughout the year\, from 10am – 11.45am the SENsational Saturday Club offers children from 0 – 15 years\, with disabilities or additional needs\, time to explore the Adventure Playground with their families/carers. And it’s FREE! SENsational Saturday sessions are also open and free to the siblings of children with additional needs. Siblings too\, need the opportunity to choose to play either with their brother or sister or to have some\, often much needed time to explore and engage in their own play. \nThe sessions give parents and carers an opportunity to take some time out and chat to other parents while the children are free to explore\, socialise and learn through play in a fun but safe environment. Over the years parents and carers have developed an active social group\, sharing information and advice or just lending a friendly ear to each other. \nExperienced and dedicated playworkers are on site throughout the sessions to offer activities and offer a little respite for those who might need it. DESCRIPTION:The Adventure Playground at Marble Hill Playcentres is completely unique in this borough. With its huge wooden structures and large open spaces\, they provide a special place for thousands of children each year. Children learn fantastic life lessons by testing their limits\, discovering how things work and what they really enjoy to do. Adults are not permitted in the AP\, giving the children freedom to make their own choices\, and the opportunity to play and form new friendships with others outside of their usual peer group. They have a team of playworkers to supervise the children\, facilitate play\, and organise daily activities. See Course page for more details. \nThe course is 2000m (2K) long. The course is in Osterley Park\, Isleworth. The course is run on a mixture of paved paths\, unpaved paths and grass. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud\, leaves and puddles after rain. Marshals will be at key sections of the course and signs will be in place.\nThe course begins in front of the steps to Osterley House. Turn right in to the field in front of the house. After a clock wise lap of the field\, come off the field and on to the pathway and run down to the large gate at the back entrance by Osterley Lane. Turn around and run back along the same path. Then turn left in to the field and run another clockwise lap with the finish funnel in the field in front of the steps to the house. \nIt’s free! but please register before your first visit.
