SUMMARY:Parent & Child Family Group – East Twickenham
DESCRIPTION:The principles that underlie all of the work at The St Michael Steiner School are also at the heart of their Parent and Child groups. These principles come out of observation of the developmental stages that children go through as they grow and a perception of what they need at each stage. \nThe groups work out of the understanding of the young child enhanced by the work of Rudolf Steiner as well as Emmi Pikler. With this in mind\, they aim to provide a supportive environment for parents and carers of young children and a nurturing one for the children themselves. \nTheir most important task is to support you whilst you raise and care for your children. They know that parents/carers of young children can sometimes feel exhausted and isolated during this often joyful\, fulfilling stage of family life. There is an enormous\, ever-growing body of information and advice which can be very helpful\, positive\, practical and well-meaning. However\, it is sometimes contradictory\, overwhelming and\, at its worst\, consumerism/competition-driven. \nIn the Parent and Child Groups\, they strive to offer balance\, the opportunity to relax in nature\, meet other parents or perhaps dabble in a simple seasonal craft. Or help with a little gardening\, peruse the books and pamphlets on offer\, whilst your children explore and play alongside or with each other. \nThe group leaders can offer information about Steiner Waldorf Education\, Emmi Pikler’s Self-Initiated Physical Development /Respectful Care\, as well as parenting issues\, if you want to ask them. \nhttps://stmichaelsteiner.hounslow.sch.uk/parent-child-groups/

SUMMARY:SENsational Saturday Club (0-15yrs) – Marble Hill Playcentres\, Twickenham
DESCRIPTION:All children need to play and be active. Play is essential to the healthy\, physical\, social and emotional development of all children\, and a fundamental part of childhood. Children with disabilities need to play as much as their non-disabled peers. Indeed the benefits of play and physical activity can be even greater than for other children so it is vital they do not miss out. \nOn every first Saturday of the month throughout the year\, from 10am – 11.45am the SENsational Saturday Club offers children from 0 – 15 years\, with disabilities or additional needs\, time to explore the Adventure Playground with their families/carers. And it’s FREE! SENsational Saturday sessions are also open and free to the siblings of children with additional needs. Siblings too\, need the opportunity to choose to play either with their brother or sister or to have some\, often much needed time to explore and engage in their own play. Please note\, sessions may sometimes move\, so please check with them  before attending. \nSessions give parents and carers an opportunity to take some time out and chat to other parents while the children are free to explore\, socialise and learn through play in a fun but safe environment. Over the years parents and carers have developed an active social group\, sharing information and advice or just lending a friendly ear to each other. \nExperienced and dedicated playworkers are on site throughout the sessions to run activities\, play games and offer a little respite for those who might need it. They make full use of all of the rope swings\, cook together\, build dens and get messy with lots of craft and making activities. \n\n\n\nThese 2 hour sessions are free\, but any donations that enable MHP to continue and improve this much loved and essential service to local families are always needed and much appreciated. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveryone needs to register before entering the SENsational Saturday Club and PRE BOOK the session you wish to attend – please note that you will not be able to drop in due to Covid safe site procedures. This is to make sure that they have safe numbers of people on site and the right contact details in case of emergency. This is also to provide information about usage that they need for their funders. \nSENsational Saturday Club
