Pedal Project – Cycling Without Stabilisers

Pedal ProjectPedal Project guarantees to get children from the age of 4yrs cycling safely without stabilisers. It offers short courses which are run at weekends and during the school holidays in Twickenham and Barnes, as well as in Battersea and Kentish Town (with more locations on the horizon). Pedal Project’s founder, Ed Woodhouse, is passionate about getting as many children as possible to enjoy cycling. Cycling has many benefits to physical and psychological health, as well as the freedom it affords. But perhaps the greatest benefit of learning to cycle is the huge boost in confidence it gives; learning a new skill for life.

The Twickenham courses run at The Twickenham Brunswick Club, Clarendon Crescent TW2 5LN, and the Barnes courses run at Kitson Hall, Kitson Road SW13 9HJ. All bikes and helmets are provided, and for £125.00 Pedal Project guarantees to get them cycling safely without stabilisers. Here’s how the guarantee works…

Pedal ProjectYou book your child or children onto a course of three one-hour sessions, which Pedal Project usually finds is enough to get your child riding safely. However if they haven’t quite got there after three sessions, Pedal Project offers extra sessions for no extra charge until they’ve cracked it!

Pedal ProjectPedal Project teaches in small groups of no more than eight children, and they use a variety of games to help the children learn balance and control. All their fully qualified instructors are DBS checked and first aid trained. Pedal Project only use Islabikes, which they consider to be the best children’s bikes on the market – the bikes are lightweight and all components are scaled down in size. The brakes in particular are excellently designed, effective and easy to use. (Pedal Project can offer expert advice after the sessions if you are looking to buy a bike for your child or have questions about a bike you already have.) Pedal Project also has three sizes of children’s helmets made by TSG, so you can be sure of a good fit.

“I heard about Pedal Project from several ecstatic parents who had put their children into Ed’s capable hands and were now spending weekends and holidays cycling together. I read through all the many, many glowing testimonials and even after all of that was unsure as to how my two boys would fare on the course. But from the moment you arrive and until you leave each session, Ed instills a calm confidence and real sense of teamwork amongst the children and within the first hour you can already see the effects on them. Watching your child cycle unaided for the first time is almost akin to watching them take their first steps. What Ed achieves is nothing short of a miracle! I can certainly recommend Pedal Project to anyone who asks.” Zoe, mother of Leo (6) and Zac (4)
