We love Monkey Music and we’re sure your little ones will too as they are introduced to music in a way that they can easily understand and enjoy. Specialist teachers gently encourage social and musical skills within a fun, friendly and stimulating environment. Claire and her team have been providing award-winning classes for babies and young children in East Twickenham, Teddington and Kew for over 20 years, nurturing their natural love of music so that it will last a lifetime.
All children are born with an instinctive musicality, and many research studies show how early exposure to melody, singing and playing music is invaluable to early development. Through their weekly sessions, Monkey Music encourages children to fulfil their natural musical potential… language and numerical skills flourish through action songs and rhymes, fine motor skills are developed, awareness of space and of one another come through gentle dance and movement, and there are loads of opportunities for children to experiment with instruments and to make music of their own. And it doesn’t just happen in class! Monkey Music will give you lots of ideas of how to make music at home, and your child will benefit from seeing and hearing how you respond to the positive effects of music.
At the heart of Monkey Music is a progressive and innovative 4-stage curriculum with a winning combination of traditional and original songs, movement activities, colourful and imaginative props, and a wide variety of specialist percussion instruments.
Babies from as young as three months can enjoy the fascinating sounds and sensory experiences of the Rock’n’Roll class, moving through the stages of Heigh-Ho and Jiggety-Jig until they arrive at the final stage, Ding-Dong. Pre-schoolers aged 3 and 4 years learn to read traditional notation, get hands-on experience of the instruments of the orchestra, and build on their foundations of rhythm, pitch, tempo and melody – an excellent preparation for learning an instrument. As they move through the stages, children are so busy having fun, they barely notice how clever they are!
If you haven’t experienced the magic of Monkey Music, you can book a complimentary session to find out what they’re all about. Classes run at St Stephen’s Crossway Centre, Richmond Road in East Twickenham on Wednesdays; at the Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road in Teddington on Mondays to Thursdays; and at St Luke’s Church, The Avenue in Kew on Tuesdays to Fridays. You can also get Monkey Music membership for just £1.00 at these venues during September 2024 (usually £18.00)! Just quote ‘Family Hub Claire’ when booking your classes (only valid in Kew, Teddington, Richmond and Twickenham).
