February Half-Term Family Activities 2025
It’s almost half-term and that means there’s more on than usual! We’ve pulled together a listing of the goings-on that families can enjoy together in the area, with the activities also featured in our Calendar. We’re adding more and more as and when things are announced, so do keep checking back! Richmond Borough & Nearby
15th – 23rd February: From Bulb To Bloom at Ham House.
- Ham House is celebrating and exploring the changing seasons at Ham House and Garden with gardening-themed activities for kids. On the 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st & 23rd, join a seed potting drop-in session (£2) – discover how to sustainably plant your seasonal seed in a cardboard toilet roll tube, then find out how to look after it, ready for the plant to bloom at home. On the 16th, 18th, 20th & 22nd, join a pot painting drop-in session (£5) – plant pot, paint and tools will be provided. Normal admission also applies.
15th – 23rd February: Elizabeth I’s Spy Mission at Hampton Court Palace.
- Escape to a world of mystery at Hampton Court Palace. Step back in time, join a royal quest and undertake a top-secret mission! Elizabeth I has now been on the throne for over 15 years and plots against her are increasing. There is still no royal marriage, no heir and threats of war from Spain! With suspicion rife around the palace the Queen needs to recruit spies to understand the danger and who she can trust – unfortunately there’s a lot of funny business going on. Join Elizabeth I’s spy network and go on an undercover operation for the Queen. Quiz and spy on the suspicious characters going about the palace, help decode secret messages and report back your findings to the Queen. Normal admission applies.
15th – 23rd February: Meet & Greet Snow Queen and Jedi Master at Hounslow Urban Farm.
- Hounslow Urban Farm is always a treat to visit with the little ones, and this half-term children will have the opportunity to meet Elsa the Snow Queen (15th, 17th, 21st) or Marcus the Jedi Master (16th, 18th, 20th, 23rd). Stroll around the pens with goats, pigs, donkeys, llamas, peacocks and owls, and you can even feed some of the animals. There are also animal encounters throughout the day, where you can meet and handle small mammals, reptiles and more. You can buy tickets at the farm or online.
- No special family events, but Kew Gardens always makes a great family day out, with the Children’s Garden, family kitchen & shop, log trail, treetop walkway, immense glasshouses, the Hive, and of course acres of gardens to run free in and explore. Visiting information can be found here.
London Museum Of Water And Steam (Brentford)
15th – 23rd February: Trains, Trains, Trains at the London Museum Of Water & Steam.
- All aboard! Wonderful train themed activities including rides on the steam locomotive, crafts, and model railways, and a Steam Up event on the weekend of 22nd-23rd February. The Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers will be at the Museum on the 17th & 18th February. Enjoy the wonderful model trains in full steam on a purpose-built track in the Babcock Room. The steam locomotive, Thomas Wicksteed, and diesel locomotive, Alister, will be welcoming passengers on the 15th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 21st & 22nd (£1). Get creative with train-themed crafts, including a competition to design a limited-edition train ticket. The chosen designs will be used on Thomas Wicksteed rides in March! The Twickenham & District Model Railway Club will also be displaying over the Steam Up weekend of 22nd & 23rd February. Normal admission also applies.
London Wetland Centre (Barnes)
15th – 23rd February: Mudfest at the London Wetland Centre in Barnes.
- Stomp, splash and squelch this February half term. It’s the stuff our super-powered wetlands (and great family adventures) are made of. Make it, mix it, mould it and build with it, sling it, paint it and jump in it. Muddy activities kids of all ages. Normal admission applies.
17th – 23rd February: Horrible Histories® Gorgeous Georgians Trail at Osterley Park.
- Inspired by the Horrible Histories books, dive into the world of the Georgians with an interactive family-friendly trail around the house, garden and parkland. Uncover the quirks and scandals of Georgian history while exploring a real Georgian manor house. This 10-stop, interactive trail is designed to entertain children of all ages with a combination of games, activities and historical facts. In the Temple of Pan, find the Marvellous Make Up Gallery. Spin the Wheel of Woe to find out which job you might have had as one of the cheerless children living in Georgian times. On the Long Walk, look out for Horrible Highwaymen hiding in the trees, including Dick Turpin, known to frequent the local area. Learn about the foul foods popular during Georgian Times and even try Osterley’s posh potty, with flatulent fart noises! Normal admission applies.
