First Swim

First Swim is a dedicated baby swimming facility that launched in 2018 in central Twickenham, offering swimming lessons for babies and pre-schoolers from 6 weeks to 4 years old. They have courses for all levels and capabilities taught by qualified teachers in a fully heated, super-clean and purpose-built pool. They also have a lovely relaxing coffee shop offering drinks and snacks to their members.

There are many good reasons to teach your child to swim from an early age. It is not only a life skill that encourages water safety, but it is also great for their physical health, can boost confidence and, above all, is fun! First Swim aims to give parents the skills to teach their children to swim in a relaxed environment, also giving them confidence and allowing them to continue that enjoyment outside of the lessons.

Classes at First Swim are safe, fun and interactive. Each lesson has a maximum of eight children in the pool (plus one parent per child), meaning First Swim can deliver a personal touch to their lessons. With eight in a class, teachers can focus on everyone in the group and maximise their teaching to help your child’s water confidence grow. They’re also understanding of the fact that sometimes ‘things just happen’ that mean you can’t get to a class, so they are flexible and offer three catch-up classes for missed lessons.

First Swim’s swim centre is tailormade, designed by parents for parents! The pool is only used for babies and toddlers, so they limit the use of harsh chemicals using modern technologies and they ensure both the pool and changing rooms are super-clean. The temperature of the water is so important for babies and, unlike other leisure pools, First Swim can guarantee a consistent 33°C to keep your little one comfortable throughout their whole session. They are also open seven days a week, as they know how important it is to be able to do activities with the little ones at weekends too.

At the facility, there are both male and female changing rooms, which are equipped with changing mats and playpens to make getting dried and dressed as easy and stress-free as possible. And their coffee shop is the icing on the cake – a relaxing place for you to unwind or catch up before or after your lesson. You’ll feel right at home!
